CHAIR LESIL McGUIRE  convened the meeting of  the House Judiciary                                                             
Standing Committee  at 1:15 p.m.   Representatives McGuire, Holm,                                                               
Ogg, Samuels,  Gara, and  Gruenberg were present  at the  call to                                                               
order.   Representative Anderson  arrived as  the meeting  was in

SUMMARY OF INFORMATION                                                                                                        
                                                                                                                                
JUAN  MELENDEZ,   a  former  death  row   inmate,  presented  his                                                               
experiences while sitting on death  row, provided a brief history                                                               
of how he came to be there and  how he came to be exonerated, and                                                               
responded to questions.
